My name is Emily Glickman and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families at all stages in life. I believe that therapy can open up doors to new opportunities as well as provide a safe space to explore how unresolved experiences from our past may be hindering on personal growth and change we want to make today. Together, we can explore your dreams and aspirations, and learn new skills to increase the quality of the relationships you have with yourself and others. I believe that once we can gain awareness into how we have coped with life’s stressors in the past, we can learn new patterns of coping that will be more effective in living a healthy and satisfying life. I provide a collaborative, safe, and strength based approach to therapy. I believe that personal growth comes from increasing awareness about how life events have affected us as well as understanding how our daily thoughts can affect our feelings and behaviors.

I graduated from Phillips Graduate University in 2016 with a MA in psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy and art therapy. Since then, I have worked in outpatient community behavioral health clinics with clients struggling with moderate to severe mental health issues. I have experience treating a wide variety of mental health disorders including, but not limited to depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, PTSD and trauma related disorders, eating disorders, Psychotic disorders, co-occurring disorders, personality disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. My style of therapy includes primarily a CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) approach mixed with psychodynamic, attachment, and person centered therapy. We will work together to process past traumas, life events, and learn new tools to replace negative thinking styles which can lead to depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders.

I specialize in providing an art therapy approach to treatment with people of all ages. This approach involves clients creating artwork in sessions that reflect their thoughts, feelings, symptoms, and personal difficulties. I will work with you in a safe way to explore your artwork together to obtain insight and facilitate discussions regarding your mental health. Art therapy provides an alternative approach to talk therapy alone, allows for free expression of feelings that talk alone may not cover, and provides clients with a creative coping strategy for symptom management. I am excited to begin the journey with you to obtain the positive life changes you have been looking for. Together, we will better understand what has been holding you back from achieving life goals and work collaboratively on living your most fulfilled life.
