Hello! My name is Kara Ranes. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in 2009. I’ve worked with children, teens, and adults in outpatient and inpatient settings. With a decade of experience in mental health, I’ve developed keen insight into life’s challenges which allows me to relate to you in your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
Therapy is a unique process of self-exploration that can help you gain insight and self-awareness regarding maladaptive thought processes that affect your emotional and behavioral functioning. My primary goal is to provide you a safe and contained space in which complex personal issues can be explored and better understood.
I have extensive experience treating a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, mood, and psychotic disorders, ADHD, addiction, and dual-diagnosis. I specialize in treatment of depression, anxiety, and addiction.
I understand the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship, as research indicates it is the biggest predictor of success in therapy. My genuine and empathic nature allows me to connect with different personality types and tailor my therapeutic approach to you, based on your specific treatment needs.
